How to choose the right PPC specialist?

Are you looking for a way to bring relevant customers to your website who will actually make a purchase? Or are you tired of spending money on search ad campaigns that don't deliver the results you want? Whether you identify with one, the other, or both, we have a simple solution for you: an experienced PPC specialist. To ensure you don't get burned and find the very best one, we've put together a few tips on what to focus on. Let's take a look.

Google or Seznam: Where is your PPC specialist at home?

The Czech Republic is one of the few countries in the world where people use two search enginesfor internet searches. That is why, when looking for your PPC specialist, you may come across terms like Google Ads specialist (PPC in the Google search engine) or Sklik specialist (PPC on Seznam). This way, you immediately know which search engine they are an expert in.

Google Ads and Sklik may look similar in many ways, but they differ in functionality, device coverage, audience targeting, and ad formats. Therefore, do not underestimate their focus and look for a specialist who is also up to date with the latest trends, keeps pace with the times, and ideally holds certificatesthat prove their expertise. This allows them to devise the most suitable strategy for you to meet your business goals.

For example, we are a proud Google Partner, as well as a partner of Shoptet, Heureka, and the comparison engine automation tool Mergado. In addition, our founder, Michal, is a Google Certified Trainer for performance marketing.

3 questions to help you choose

Do you have a shortlist of several certified PPC specialists, but aren't sure which one is the best fit for your business? Try asking each of them these 3 questions, and you'll find that making a decision becomes much easier:

1. What experience do you have in my industry?

Every business has its own specifics, and advertising campaigns should definitely take them into account. Verify whether the PPC specialist has worked on campaigns that align with your industry, audience, and goals. You will get a better idea of their expertise and whether they are a good match for your company.

2. What is your approach to campaigns?

Ask about their methodology—how they approach targeting, keyword selection, or ongoing campaign optimization. Is your specialist better at setting up new campaigns, or are they more skilled at optimizing existing ones? You'll immediately know how they work and whether their methods align with your KPIs.

3. How do you measure success?

Last but not least, it is important to ask how they measure success. This can include questions about metrics, how they track campaigns, and what types of analysis they perform to optimize campaign performance. You will find out what to expect and can immediately evaluate whether you share the same definition of success.

Don't underestimate these questions when choosing a PPC specialist. After all, this is the person who will have a significant impact on the success of your digital marketing campaigns.

Red flags that will save you a lot of money

  • Transparency – If a specialist is unwilling to share their strategies or tactics with you, they may not have a clear plan. A lack of transparency can also mean they are unsure of their own abilities or are trying to hide something.
  • Absence of a clear strategy – If a specialist is unable to articulate a clear plan for your PPC campaigns, or if their approach seems vague or uncertain, it may indicate a lack of experience or preparation. Both often lead to a waste of time and money.
  • No access to your account – It is crucial that the PPC specialist you hire sets up accounts in a way that gives you full access. This allows you to monitor and control your campaigns, protect your data, and freely decide to switch specialists without worrying about losing access to your accounts.
  • Low price – Everyone loves a good deal. However, when it comes to choosing a PPC specialist, the cheapest option is not necessarily the best choice. A cheap specialist may lack the experience and qualifications needed to run a successful PPC campaign.
  • Poor communication – The specialist is unresponsive, does not answer your questions clearly and promptly, or seems uninterested in your business goals. Such behavior can lead to misunderstandings and errors that negatively affect the entire performance of your campaigns.

We regularly discuss results with our clients and propose further development. Over years of working with campaigns, we have developed our own 6-point framework.
